Weeds Among the Wheat / Malas hierbas entre el trigo
Jesus speaks with parables, that is, stories, concise, clear, simple stories, and its purpose is to transmit a teaching in the most understandable and easy way to remember. In the story of the good seed and the weeds, people ask the sower (Jesus): “Do you want us to go and pull them up? He re-plied: ‘No’. Let them grow together until harvest” Mt 13, 28 - 30.
The seed of the Kingdom coexists with that of evil (weed). “Evil has neither the first nor the last word. Faced with the bad seed present in the world, the disciple of the Lord is called to imitate the patience of God, to nourish hope with the support of a firm trust in the final victory of good, that is, of God” (Pope Francis).
According to Saint John Paul II, “’We patiently suffer the mercy of God’, who waits until the last moment to offer salvation to all souls, especially the most in need of His mercy: ‘Let them grow together until harvest’. And as God is the Lord of our lives and of all humankind, God moves the threads of our existences while respecting our freedom. And along with our afflictions, we are supplied with overabundant grace to overcome them, to sanctify ourselves, to go towards God, to be a permanent offering, to grow the Kingdom.”
Jesus himself is the Kingdom. To understand more easily what the Kingdom of God is, let us compare it with the funds that one has in a bank account. Many of us have opened a bank account. Our wealth increases as funds are deposited in the ac-count. It expands over the years. A bank account offers us security and protection. If the person of Jesus Christ is the Kingdom, then let us become rich ourselves and invest in the Kingdom of God, as we do in a bank account.
Jesús habla con parábolas, es decir, relatos, historias escuetas, claras, sencillas, y su finalidad es transmitir una enseñanza del modo más comprensible y fácil de recordar. En el relato del trigo y la cizaña le preguntan al sembrador (Jesús): «¿Quieres, pues, que vayamos a recoger la cizaña? El responde: ‘No’. Dejen que crezcan juntos hasta el tiempo de la cosecha” Mt 13, 28 - 30.
La semilla del Reino coexiste con la del mal (la cizaña). “El mal no tiene ni la primera ni la última palabra. Ante la cizaña presente en el mundo, el discípulo del Señor está llamado a imitar la paciencia de Dios, alimentar la esperanza con el apoyo de una firme confianza en la victoria final del bien, es decir de Dios” (Papa Francisco).
Según San Juan Pablo II, “‘Sufrimos con paciencia la misericordia de Dios’, que espera hasta el último momento para ofrecer la salvación a todas las almas, especialmente a las más necesitadas de su misericordia: ‘Dejen que crezcan juntos hasta el tiempo de la cosecha’. Dios es el Señor de la vida de cada persona y de la historia de la humanidad, y mueve los hilos de nuestras existencias, respetando nuestra libertad, de modo que —junto con la prueba— nos da la gracia sobreabundante para resistir, para santificarnos, para ir hacia Él, para ser ofrenda permanente, para hacer crecer el Reino.”
Jesús mismo es el Reino. Para comprender más fácil lo que es el Reino de Dios, comparémoslo con el dinero que se tiene en una cuenta de banco. Muchos de nosotros hemos abierto una cuenta bancaria. Se va incrementando el capital en la medida que se deposita dinero. A lo largo de los años se va expandiendo. Una cuenta en el banco nos ofrece seguridad y protección. Si la persona de Jesucristo es el Reino, entonces enriquezcámonos e invirtamos en el Reino de Dios, así como lo hacemos en una cuenta bancaria.
